Cherry Vegas: Rise Up Lights' New Single

Rise Up Lights is back with a new single, and it’s nothing short of addicting. The band amps up the energy with a dynamic beat and blends the perfect balance of guttural and propulsive vocals to create a piece that sounds as if it had been pulled from the Arcane animated series. 

While Rise Up Lights has always centered around a sort of emo genre, their newest single hits that fully-realized identity right on the head with the unique instrumentation and thrashing vocalism. When listening through Cherry Vegas, it's clear that the group is leaning more into the hardcore pop-punk, Sleeping With Sirens-meets-Invent Animate sound with the single’s driving, distorted synth and booming, guitar-heavy chorus. Cherry Vegas starts out with a short, reduced interlude with glimmering synths and eerie sound distortion. Cued by Aleks Arcari’s shift from atmospheric, static-laced to heavy metal vocals, the song shoots up in tempo and volume with a quick attack. Michael Cannon’s high-octane guitar riffs, Dalton Daniel's rich bass line, and Dylan Pettit’s complex percussion accompany Arcari and keep the energy high with no signs of letting that energy drop. 

While Cherry Vegas is danceable, the song is also grounded with story-focused lyricism. Cherry Vegas’ narrative centers around love being more than just going through the motions, as well as how it goes beyond what the world says is right. With lyrics like “I’ll never believe in the talk of the town, never escape her grip,” and “let’s not get caught up in the routine, it’s all so revealing,” the listener can easily track the song’s theme of reckless adoration and how its consequences affect both parties involved. With its emphatic rhythms and accessible lyricism, Cherry Vegas caters to both lyric-centric and melody-centric listeners.
