COMMON GROUND Debuts at The Neon Ranch
Celebrating their stage debut, COMMON GROUND takes the spotlight at The Neon Ranch.
It was an awesome evening, Saturday night April 20 in Lillian, Alabama. When a new band hits the public eye, The Beatman is on the scene giving you my impressions, insights and highlights. This particular night at The Neon Ranch proved to be a night to remember.
A new 5-piece concern by the name of COMMON GROUND took the stage close to 9pm. There were a lot of people in attendance at this, the first of many private and public parties sponsored by The Neon Ranch.
If you've not been to The Neon Ranch, you are missing quality entertainment at its finest. The staff at The Neon Ranch knows how to treat people with respect and gratitude. Plus, the food, fun, drinks and lively atmosphere will keep you there enjoying your stay for hours. They sport one of the most elaborate stage set ups virtually anywhere, high powered PA, and a light array that rivals most concert halls.
We had a special treat Saturday night with the arrival of none other than President Donald J. Trump! Well, more like a Donald look alike actor who had everyone in stiches with his rare brand of political humor. Wasn't at all expecting anything like that!
The band, consisting of 5 seasoned professional musicians showed us all that they know what they're doing
The lead guitarist, Scott Ricket impressed me with his lightning fast and technical riffs. Its apparent to me Scott has played all his life. His knowledge of music puts him in a place where he can play most anything with little prep. Looking forward to hearing more from this talented artist.
Tim Cole, the bands drummer gave me a few drum lessons while he blasted the stage with quick chops and runs that thundered across the grounds at The Neon Ranch. Tim pays attention to the music and was in time, on time...all the time! I'm a drummer myself so I was paying particular attention to his technique and I couldn't find a flaw.
The lead singer and front for the band is Tiffany Carmichael, and let me tell you this woman can SING! When she busted out with Roll With It I was blown away! Not a single flat or sharp note in anything she sang...not one! Her stage presence exemplifies why she is the focal point of this outfit. The way Tiffany commands the stage, yet connects with the audience illustrates her passion for music and dedication to the group at large. Well done my dear. The Beatman salutes you!
Next, we move on to Mr. Grib Murphy, the bands keyboardist. You know, I didn't think the human hands were designed to move that fast! Looking as cool as his stage demeanor presents, Grib demonstrated technique reminiscent of the rock keys men of the 70's and 80's. He makes playing look effortless while he traverses the entire keyboard! Smooth on the groove, when Gib cuts loose for a solo, he rips it! Gib also backs up the band with vocals and harmonies that please the eardrums!
Lastly, but certainly never least, may I present my very good friend Mr. Adriano Medeiros on bass guitar! I was already familiar with Adriano's playing style and technique as we've played together on several occasions. Don't be fooled by Adriano's laid back style. He's a monster on the bass. When its time to rip it, Adriano displays his prowess on his instrument laying down grooves with his section mate, Tim Cole. Adriano is no stranger to live music. He's played all over with many musicians and is a true professional through and through!
Collectively, COMMON GROUND performed at a level you wouldn't expect from a brand new band playing together for the first time on such a prestigious stage. I knew we were in for a treat when they played Roll With It. Long Train Runnin was fantastic! Crazy simply was, and when they went into We Are Family the crowd went nuts and sang along like they were at a concert at The Bay Center! No matter how you see it, COMMON GROUND is a new force to be reckoned with! Make sure you keep up with COMMON GROUND through our show calendar. I'm quite sure they will be performing somewhere near you very soon!
