Scream Out Loud Celebrates 12 Years of "Live It Up" with an Epic Night of Nostalgia and Community with GLSNR, Losing Cadence, and The Autumn Descent

Picture this: a buzzing crowd, the scent of anticipation in the air, and the unmistakable hum of guitars tuning up. That's the scene that greeted fans at The Handlebar as they gathered to celebrate 12 years of Scream Out Loud's iconic debut album, Live It Up. And let me tell you, it was a night to remember! It was a statement of enduring bonds shared not only by the bands but also by their devoted fans.

From the moment the doors opened, excitement filled the air, with a line snaking around the block past the Sauce Boss Burger food truck, reminiscent of the band's early days. As the crowd poured in, anticipation mounted for an evening of music and camaraderie.

The lineup was a testament to the rich tapestry of Pensacola's music scene. The night kicked off with the much-anticipated reunions of The Autumn Descent and Losing Cadence followed by local favorites GLSNR. The energy was palpable as old friends reunited and fans eagerly awaited the main event.

The evening commenced with The Autumn Descent igniting the stage with their beloved anthem, Fairy Tales Are Overrated. It was the perfect kick-off to an electrifying night. Fans surged forward, packing shoulder to shoulder from the stage to the venue's back doors, passionately belting out every lyric:

"And I can't sleep, with your words on my mind (On my mind)
You beg me for change, but you couldn't find a way
To save yourself this time." - The Autumn Descent

Their performance set the tone for the rest of the evening, fueling the crowd with adrenaline and anticipation for the musical journey that lay ahead.

Apologies, folks, but The Autumn Descent's signature black band shirts flew off the shelves before the band even finished their set. Here's hoping this rapid sell-out is just a taste of the enduring appeal The Autumn Descent holds in the Gulf Coast music scene. Let's keep our fingers crossed for more appearances from Shannon and the crew – and, of course, more of those coveted black band shirts!

Losing Cadence

Next up, Losing Cadence took the stage by storm, delivering a powerhouse performance packed with fan favorites like Vices and Verses, Carry On, 85H03, and The City Knows How. Their energy was contagious as they even reached out to Michael Silver in the crowd, hoping he would grace the stage for a song he had contributed vocals to. It's worth noting that there was some surprise in the air as Michael Silver's band, This Day Will Tell, didn't make a reunion appearance. Among the plethora of local bands from the early 2000s celebrating Live It Up, Scream Out Loud's brother band, TDWT, seemed like a glaring absence. But fret not, we'll delve deeper into their story another time.

The crowd was swept up in the nostalgia and excitement of Losing Cadence's set, reliving memories of the early 2000s music scene. Their seamless blend of emotion and energy left fans craving more. The night was just heating up, promising even more surprises and memories to come.

GLSNR

Taking the spotlight next was GLSNR, offering a dynamic display of the evolution of post-hardcore since its 2008-2013 heyday. Their performance underscored the genre's growth and versatility over the years. Undoubtedly, GLSNR's commanding musical prowess left an indelible impression on the audience. Moreover, with half of the band members, namely Tony and Micah, boasting ties to both Losing Cadence and Scream Out Loud, there was an undeniable synergy that permeated the air. This amalgamation of shared history and mutual passion set the stage for an unforgettable evening, priming Scream Out Loud to deliver a performance that would remind the world of the enduring brilliance of their debut album.

As GLSNR unleashed their electrifying set, it became evident that they were not just another act on the bill; they were integral to the narrative of the night. Their seamless integration of influences and their deep-seated connections to other local bands added layers of meaning to the event.

As Scream Out Loud began setting up, the venue was so densely packed that movement became a challenge. Yet, far from dampening spirits, this close-knit atmosphere only intensified the sense of camaraderie among friends and long-time fans. With arms linked and voices raised in unison, they eagerly awaited the band's performance, reciting cherished lyrics from SOL's repertoire. The anticipation hung thick in the air as the band launched into a series of newer tracks from their second album and recent releases, serving as a thrilling precursor to the main event.

Then, without warning, the opening chords of The Fear Of Letting Go reverberated through the venue, igniting a frenzy of excitement among the crowd. As each song unfolded, fans leaned in eagerly, shouting out every word with fervor. The stage transformed into a jubilant hub of community spirit, with surprise guest appearances adding to the electric atmosphere. From Michael Silver's impassioned screams to Aleks from Rise Up Lights and members of Losing Cadence and GLSNR joining in, the stage became a melting pot of talent and friendship. With Micah's return on bass for a few songs and Shannon from The Autumn Descent adding his voice to the mix with all the other bandmates and friends making appearances, the evening evolved into a joyous celebration of unity and shared history.

In the end, there could be no better tribute to the enduring legacy of Live It Up than this unforgettable performance surrounded by a tapestry of friends, family, and past and present band members. As SOL marked the 12th anniversary of their beloved debut album, they did so not just with music, but with an outpouring of love and support from their community – a testament to the profound impact their music has had on the local scene and beyond.

As the night drew to a close, SOL left fans eagerly anticipating their next show. And with the announcement of a special event in July celebrating the 20th anniversary of Pensacola legends Glory Of This, featuring Across Five Aprils, the excitement shows no signs of slowing down.
