Beartooth, Sleep Theory And More Unite In New Orleans On Valentine's Day
Beartooth electrified the stage at The House of Blues in New Orleans on Valentine's Day. With dynamic support from The Plot in You, Invent Animate, and Sleep Theory, the night became a symphony of passion and energy, leaving fans with unforgettable memories.
It's not often you can catch an awesome sold out concert on a holiday, but luckily, I got to when Ohio rock band Beartooth stormed into New Orleans' House of Blues on Valentine's Day.
Beartooth, joined by fellow Ohioans, The Plot in You, Texas metalcore band, Invent Animate and Memphis band, Sleep Theory, put on an arena like show in a club venue and it was insanely impressive.
The crowd was buzzing well before Sleep Theory began, a buzz that only continued to grow as they started their set.
Vocalist Cullen Moore had the crowd eating out of the palm of his hand as early as the first song in the set, Fallout. They're known for other songs as well: Numb, which got insane radio play on Sirius XM's Octane channel, along with Another Way, which got over 500k views on TikTok within 36 hours of its release.
When you've only got seven songs to wow the crowd with, you got to start early, and Moore did just that.
Moore made silly faces to people in the front row, waved to people in the balcony and other charming antics. His bandmates, guitarist Landen Terry, bassist Paolo Vergara and drummer Ben Pruitt charmed the crowd in their own ways as their set continued.
All too soon, Sleep Theory took their bow and were replaced by screaming vocals of Marcus Vik of Invent Animate.
The band was definitely one of the more stylish bands I'd ever seen, with their entire group opting for white and cream for their stage outfits and in some cases, jewels and mesh.
Invent Animate was followed by The Plot in You which had almost as many fans in the crowd as Beartooth did.
This was when the crowd surfing reached a fever pitch. That's not to say that there was no crowd surfing during the previous bands, but when front man Landon Tewers urges people who have never crowd surfed before to do it during all of their songs, well, you kinda have to obey.
The band played plenty of old songs and many of their new songs, easily keeping old, new and non-fans happy and moshing.
That energetic energy carried over to Beartooth's set, which began, funny enough, by frontman Caleb Shomo walking out on stage completely shirtless and standing in the middle of the stage with a single spotlight on him.
Not a single word was uttered as he took the time to bathe in the cheers, screams and other questionable sounds. He even urged them on with several waves of his hands before launching into the first song of the set, Sunshine!
Much like the openers, the band played plenty of deep cuts, crowd favorites and even made time for a Mr Brightside cover.
There was certainly loads of riffs, moshing and love in the air at this Valentine's Day show. More bands should start having Valentine's Day shows, if you ask me!
